1) Background of certificate nursing programme in Bir Hospital Nursing Campus
With existing demand of health human resources of the country society and people of Nepal Bir hospital nursing campus was established in 1989, affiliation with Tribhuwan University. Later on with the establishment of National Academy of medical Science. This programme came under NAMS from 2004 & also started the Post Basic Bachelor of Nursing Programme.
The main purposes establishing this institution is to improve the quality of Service of Bir hospital as well as to fulfill long term need of Government by supplying skilled human resources, that are widely recognized and competent in the job Market.
The training approach of this campus emphasizes the preventive promotive. Curative and rehabilitative aspects of health care .This campus follows the realistic and practical teaching learning methodology in hospitals as well as in communities setting in order to familiarize the real situation so that they get exposure and they will be able to provide holistic health care to the individuals family and society appropriately.
2) Mission:
To prepare nurses with technical, managerial, and leadership skills to cope with the continuously evolved new challenges in health sector in Nepal abroad.
3) Vision of the programme:
The hospitals and health related organizations of Nepal receive word class Nursing service from well trained Nurse to meet the demands and requirement of 21st century.

Bir Hospital Nursing Campus is committed to serving the different social communities and the nation by imparting both practical and theoretical knowledge to pupils who come to join this campus with the sale purpose of seeking employment and service to the mankind. It is committed to providing competent and quality education in Nursing.
6. Objective of the Certificate Programme in Nursing
The general purpose of the basic nursing educational programme is to prepare a competent and self-reliant nurse who will be able to care for individuals, groups and communities according to principles of primary health care.
Upon completion of the programme the graduate will:
Utilize a sound knowledge base in giving care to well and sick individuals, families and communities.
Perform preventive and therapeutic measures directed toward promotion maintenance and restoration of health .
Utilize the communication skills effectively with individuals, groups in variety of settings.
Utilize the nursing process in providing and improving health care.
Assume leadership for planning, directing and evaluating care given by health workers.
Teach and supervise individual family groups and community including health care workers.
Collaborate with multi-sectoral group to develop \ a healthful environment, including safe dirking water, sanitation and other basic needs of the community.
Mobilize the community to participate in the activities of the village health post.
Demonstrate a positive attitude and respect for cultural values in working to meet needs and solve problems.

7. Model of curricular design:
As shown in the above model emphasis is given to concept of wellness to illness different levels of the programme. In the first yea, the focus is on the healthy client keep the individual and family healthy by health promotion and disease prevention second year the focus moves to health maintained as it relates to the care of the especially the mother and child. In the third year the focus shifts to the till client and restoration of the client to optimum health.
